It's easy to focus entirely on the product — frame material, glazing, brand — and treat installation as a formality. In practice, installation quality determines whether all of that performance actually shows up in your home. A misaligned frame or a poorly sealed joint undoes even the best-engineered window system.
Ask to see actual completed sites, not just showroom samples. A showroom window is installed once, by the most experienced person on the team, under ideal conditions. A real site visit shows how the installer performs under normal working conditions — which is what your home will actually get.
Check whether measurement, ordering, and installation are handled by the same team or handed off between vendors. Gaps between who measured and who installed are where most fit and alignment issues creep in — a single accountable installer is usually the safer bet.
Finally, ask what happens after installation — warranty terms, who to call if a seal fails or hardware sticks a year in, and how quickly they've historically responded. A good installer treats the sale as the start of the relationship, not the end of it.
